A Shake to Sink your Teeth into

Let’s face it… sometimes we just don’t feel like a shake first thing on a cold morning, no matter nutritious and filling it is.  Enter the oatmeal:

oatmeal 9

Isn’t she pretty?

  • 2 Scoops Herbalife Formula 1 flavour of your choice (Vanilla, Chocolate, Cookies ‘n Cream, Strawberry)
  • 2 Tbsp oatmeal
  • 200 ml water/milk/soy milk
  • 1/2 or 1 whole banana
  • Vanilla essence
  • Chocolate chips or shavings (optional)

Smush your banana Snookie-style into a bowl. Add all ingredients (other than the chocolate chips – mix these into the warm oats afterwards).

You can either cook your oats on the stove, or the microwave. Bring them to the boil, then simmer over a lower heat (adjust your microwave to a lower wattage), until creamy, dreamy. Some like it stodgy, some like it more liquidy, so don’t add all your liquid at once – just keep topping up until your oats are the desired consistency. Fluff with a fork throughout the cooking process to whip the banana into deliciousness. Sprinkle and mix in chocolate chips.

I’m almost 100% sure that anyone who has ever cooked oats in the microwave has had a little “accident”. Left unattended, this humble grain loves to bubble over your bowl (anyone ever scrape the oats back into the bowl from the microwave plate…anyone?). Then you try to wipe the bowl clean, it’s hot, your burn your fingers, you leave oats on the side of the bowl and they get all crackly as you cook the oats for longer… needles to say, I now stick to the stove rather than have the oats sticking all over me. I seem to only ever notice the massive blob of oats enjoying the hammock of my scarf mid-way through the day #blind.

The microwave is MALICIOUS!

WARNING… the images below may be disturbing to sensitive viewers…..

The house of horrors!
